The Ria d'Aveiro is a lagoon with a great wealth of avifauna, but also many other animals and plants. For many years, communities grew around this lagoon. As it is made of salt water, a strong industry linked to salt was able to develop as well as the cultivation of rice which took advantage of the humidity of the soil.

A walk around the Ria de Aveiro will bring you new knowledge, more energy and motivation for your working day! This interpretive hike is accompanied by an experienced and passionate biologist and ornithologist guide who will show you the nooks and crannies of this space. You can also stop in the rice fields of our partners who will tell you the history and secrets of the rice of the Ria d'Aveiro.

Hiking and adventure activity through Sever do Vouga

We suggest you immerse yourself in nature by walking the trails and cool waters of Sever do Vouga . Less than an hour's drive from Aveiro, Sever do Vouga is magical. It's a very natural area, populated with small villages, where you basically hear the birds singing and the water flowing in almost every place we visit.

In the morning, we suggest a hike along the 'levadas' (irrigation paths), between mountains and water. And for the afternoon, the hike is aquatic to venture and have fun in the crystal clear waters of Sever do Vouga. For this experience, a picnic is included and planned in the middle of nature.

Weekend Getaway to Serra da Lousã

The Serra de Lousã is a perfect symbiosis between culture, people and nature! In the Serra de Lousã we find typical and historic villages , people passionate about the land, and nature rich in biodiversity. There are a multitude of unique species of flora and fauna, such as deer, wild boars, oaks, holm oaks and cork oaks, and the species of Portuguese Salamander (Chioglossa lusitanica) is still said to be born on these lands.

To get a first taste of everything that can be done in the Serra da Lousã, we offer you a private jeep ride in the mountain to observe the deer in their natural element. We are not always lucky, but there is a high probability of being able to observe or hear them if it is the mating season (the bellowing of the deer).

A picnic will be planned and can be enjoyed either in the countryside, along a river beach or in a village. After this energizing lunch, you will continue the journey by discovering some “ aldeias de Xisto ” (villages entirely built in Schist stone which are the tradition of this region) which are part of the Serra de Lousã.

For the following day, we offer a half-day accompanied and private interpretive hike You will discover schist villages on the trails offering you magnificent landscapes. This mountainous area is also rich in waterways that result in river beaches that invite relaxing visits.
